Luleå
Luleå has about 73 174 inhabitants (30 September 2006) and 6 084 of them are working in Luleå municipality. The biggest jobs in Luleå are SSAB, Sunderby Hospital and Liko.
SSAB is a steelwork in Black Island. The steel pendulum transports steel matter from Luleå all over the world.
Fine places to visit in Luleå are The Culture House, Technique House, Gammelstad kyrkby (Old town church village), archipelago etc. In The Culture House there is a scene, where you can see theatre, music etc. There is also a library in The Culture House, there are 4 floors, a café and a museum.
Technique House is a house where they have may different technical things to do and see. For example there is a metalorecave like Kiruna and Malmberget. There are a café, a plane cabin and a train cabin on the entrance floor. Downstairs are the metal mine, a small cinema, a fake lumber mill, boat controls and a big balloon that goes up and down the ceiling most of the time. Near the entrance is a shop that sells many different things like fake slime, small robots, toys and balls that bounce.

Svartöstaden (Black Island City)
Svartöstaden (Black Island City is an old working-community on Svartön (Black Island). Svartöstaden is a nice place to live in, with genuine shanty houses. It is nowadays Sweden´s only shanty town. Because of the industries, LKAB and SSAB-Steelwork, lies between the community and the central parts of Luleå it has kept it´s own character. The district grew up in the end of the last century, in connection with extension off ore track.
Today around 600 people live in Svartöstaden and the Black Island School has around 75 pupils and 10 teachers.
Culture at Black island school and spare time
At our school we have many activities, besides the ordinary school activities, like theatre, drama, dancing and playing music in groups. For example we have made plays that is called: The fantastic adventure and Donkey-Prince.
We also have much music, from grade 3 and up, we have like little bands and play real songs like: Y.M.C.A and We will rock you. Sometimes we make our own songs. Many kids in Black Island Town play computer games like: World Of Warcraft, Diablo II, Warcraft III and GTA.
At Blackis (a big house in Black Island City) we have the Lucia plays and School endings.
We have many breaks (holidays): Sport break, Easter break, Summer brake, Fall brake and Christmas brake.
We have a restaurant where you can order pizzas. We are a very little school. We only have 75 students, and 10 in the staff.
