Summertime

A trip to the sea outside Luleå may offer unprecedented experiences. In the archipelago you can get everything from pike to trout. Archipelago offers, however, large-area, which means that water levels and weather can affect fishing luck. If you don't have a boat of your own you can use the ferry boats serving many of the archipelago's islands. It is free to fish in the archipelago when you are staying outside sea fishing line. Wintertime

Ice fishing is a very popular winter pastime. In the Luleå Archipelago it´s never far to a perfect spot to drill a hole. In fact, only a few hundred metres from central Luleå you can be out fishing on the Stadsfjärden ice. Perch, whitefish and salmon trout are the most common catches.

If you want to have an even more exciting adventure in the wild then take a snowmobile or car trip, or why not a ski trip, further out into the Archipelago. There are perfect fishing spots to be found everywhere.

Every year there are a number of ice fishing competitions and the most popular one takes place on Stadsfjärden at the end of March. A fascinating event, even for the inquisitive bystander. The tempo is high, as the experienced fishermen draw fish up one after the other with perfect precision.
