Bathing and sauna

Sunbathing and swimming

Luleå's archipelago offers excellent opportunities for sun exposure and bathing in summer. Luleå is usually in the top of the sun contest and moreover, it is even more beautiful in the seaside than the weather in central Luleå. Archipelago is simply the place to be during the summer!

It is never dark, so a dip in the middle of the night with the midnight light as company is a refreshing experience. There are lots of islands with a long and glorious sandy beaches, some islands, consist only of sand! Or, you can find a rock to jump from.

If you don't have a boat of your own you can take any of the tour boats. M/S Stella Marina and M/S Kungsholm runs several daily tours to the archipelago paradise for swimmers number one Klubbviken Havsbadlänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster. There are miles of beaches and also a restaurant and cabins to rent.

There are also several companies that offer wonderful sauna experience: Jopikgårdenlänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster, Klubbviken Havsbadlänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster and not forgetting Bengans Sauna Raftlänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster, a floating facility with sauna and the opportunity to a dip in the hole in the ice in winter.

Most people think of sun and bathing as a summer pastime only - but that´s not necessarily so! After a long skiing trip in the Archipelago a sauna followed by a roll in the snow or, for the really daring a dip in a hole in the ice, is wonderfully invigorating!

Hot Tub

At Jopikgårdenlänk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster, on Hindersön, there is a so-called hot tub - a giant wood-fired outdoor tub where you can sit and enjoy the warmth of the water even if the temperature is way below zero. Sitting in a tub while snowflakes slowly fall to the ground, or under the Northern Lights and starlight, is an fascinating experience.
