Walking tours
It's easy to find a good walking tour in Luleå. Below you will find tips about hiking trails and rambling trails in the Luleå area. To see all the trails on one map, we recommend to you buy the excursion map "Utflyktskarta" produced by Luleå Council. It is chock-full of information about different excursions in the municipal district, as well as snowmobile trails and hiking trails etc. (the map is only available in Swedish). Vitådalen
There are several nature trails in Vitådalen - the valley where Vitån stream flows in the northern part of Luleå Council District, where there are windbreaks and grill facilities.
Mittitjärn
There is a rambling trail around the small lake Mittitjärn in Niemisel. There are windbreaks, grill facilities and there is fishing.
Snöberget
There is a hiking trail from the Råneå - Niemisel road up to Snöberget Mountain, which is on the southern side or the River Råne, just outside Niemisel.
Heden
An archaeological trail has been set up near the road between Melderstein and Vitåfors. There are also ancient systems of trapping pits and an information board.
Beaver trail
This is a nature trail starting at the bridge in Vitåfors, where there are windbreaks and grill facilities.
The Love Trail in Råneå
Walking path around the community of Råneå and Lake Kängsön.
Nature trail, Persöfjärden - Smedsbyn
A nature trail alongside the bird lake Persöfjärden, with birding towers and windbreaks, etc.
From ancient times to the future
A walking trail from Hägnan Open-Air Museum in Gammelstad to the university campus in Porsön, approximately 6 km.
Bälingeberget
Rambling trails in Bälingeberget Nature Reserve. Car park with information board, windbreak, picnic cabin, grill facilities, etc. To get to Bälingeberget Mountain, drive from Gäddvik to the village of Bälinge alongside the south side of the River Lule and turn left in Bälinge village.
Ormberget Mountain
Extensive system of tracks, for jogging in summer and skiing in winter.Read more about Ormberget
Aleån - Selet Works
The lay-by on the E4, just before Ersnäs, is right by the start of a pleasant walking and canoeing route all the way to Selet Works, a distance of about 16 km. There is an information board at the lay-by.
Höträsket
There are pleasant walking trails and floodlit tracks around the small lake Höträsket at Bergnäset. There are grill facilities along the trail and you can fish in the lake.
Altappen
There are attractive walking trails on the island of Altappen in Luleå Archipelago. There you can also see the remains of sawmills, rolling mills and dwellings from the period 1871-1908. The island also has an industrial museum, simple cabin, grill facilities and a restaurant. Read more about Altappen
Archipelago Trail
This is a walking trail from Luleå/Kallax Airport via Tjuvholmssundet - Sandön - Likskär - Altappen - Hertsön - Hindersön - Strömmingsören to Brändöskär. It is a 35 km walking trail that includes boat connections. Read more about the Archipelago Trail
Kluntarna Nature Trail
Kluntarna is an island in Luleå Archipelago which is a designated nature reserve and Natura 2000 area. In addition to the walking trail there are cabins for rent, saunas, nature information, ancient labyrinths, rubble fields formed in the Ice Age, etc.
