Kayaking and canoeing
In Luleå and its surrounding areas there are excellent opportunities for kayaking and canoeing, with waters suitable for both beginners and the more experienced paddler.
The Råne River is perfect for canoeing and a map showing the different canoe routes in the area is available.
Canoeing in the inner bays near Luleå is an exciting experience and you can rent a canoe or kayak from the Luleå Canoeing Club. From these bays it is possible to canoe all the way out into the open sea.

. From these bays it is possible to canoe all the way out into the open sea. However, you must remember that canoeing in the archipelago demands more experience and skill than canoeing in sheltered bays. There are more stretches of open water in the archipelago and the waves can be much higher.
