Drop-in
Drop-in guiding (summer season only)
During the summer months Visitor Centre offer guided world heritage site tours daily.
Tours are always offered in swedish and english, other languages may vary.
Exhibition and film
Visitor Centre's exhibition "Atop the cold hill" describes the history and development of the area. Films include slide show "A year in Gammelstad" and "My church cottage- our world heritage".

Guided world heritage site tour
Visitor Centre's guide accompanies you on a historical walk through the world heritage area. During the walk, you will get to learn more about the history and development of the church town, on the tradition of staying in a church cottage and what the world heritage status signifies. Visits in the medieval Nederluleå church and one of the church cottages are included in the tour. Viewing of the exhibition and slide show in the Visitor Centre are also included. Price: from SEK 150/person (minimum 10 people - smaller groups and individuals also welcomed).
Lantern walk
Experience the church town during the winter months! By storm lamps, our guide will takes you through the heritage area. Learm about the history and development of the church town, the tradition of staying in a church cottage and what the world heritage status signifies. Visits in the medieval Nederluleå church and one of the church cottages are included in the tour. Viewing of the exhibition and slide show in the Visitor Centre are also included. Price: from SEK 150/person (minimum 10 people - smaller groups and individuals also welcomed).
For schools
For Luleå city council schools we offer guided viewings of the open-air museum Hägnan and/or the world heritage site area at a special rate of 400 SEK. For information and booking, please contact Visitor Centre at gammelstad@lulea.se

Music concert in Nederluleå church
Musical experiences such as music on organ, choir music, Swedish or international music. Information and booking avaliable via Nederluleå parish office: 0046 (0)920- 27 70 00
Try-out session with the blacksmith
Forge your own nail or bottle-opener in the church town's local village smithery, under the guidance of the blacksmith himself. The smithery offers customised activities for company personnel, groups of friends, work kick-offs, hen and stag events. Price: from 800 SEK (excl. VAT) per group (1- 5 people, 2 hours including material). With optional light lunch or refreshments.
Leather handicrafting
See, feel and handle the different materials together with a trained crafter. Information and anecdotes about traditional trades is passed on at the same time. Sew and imprint your name, key ring, bookmark. Price: from 100 kr per person (for groups of 5-10 people )
