Foundations

Timber cottages rest on a foundation of cornerstones. Between the cornerstones, there may be a dry stone wall, which could later be cemented to reduce the draught. If the foundation stones project outside the panelling, or if the panelling rests on the foundations, the result may be problems with damp. If the foundation stones are not load bearing, they can be pushed in, but contact the town planning department first.
