17.30 Guided lantern tour of Gammelstad Church Town. Start at the Visitor Centre, available in english (120 SEK/person)

19.00 Fire show by EMP at Open-air Museum Hägnan.

Horse and sleigh between Visitor Centre and Open-air Museum Hägnan (30 SEK/person) and free sausages to grill outside the Visitor Centre.

Guided drop-in tours of Gammelstad Church Town

Visitor Centre in Gammelstad offers drop-in tours of Gammelstad every week. A viewing of a churchcottage and a walking tour with an authorized Gammelstad guide are included in the tour.

Join a drop-in tour, the tours starts at 15.00 on the following dates:

February: 6, 7 (two tours, one at 15 and one at 17.30), 14, 21, 28
March: 6, 13, 20, 27
April: 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30
May: 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29

100 SEK per person. No need to book in advance. Start and tickets at the Visitor Centre in Gammelstad. Tours take about an hour.

Visitor Centre Opening hours

At the Visitor Centre there is an exhibition about Gammelstad's history, slideshows, a small souvenirshop and of course information material about Gammelstad.

Monday - Thursday 12-16
Sundays 12-15, a guided drop-in tour every Sunday at 15

Extra open for Jokkmokk's wintermarket:

6 February 12-15, guided tour at 15
7 February 12-19, guided tour at 15 and 17.30

World Heritage logo of UNESCO

UNESCO added Gammelstad church town to their world heritage list in 1996 - motivated by its outstanding universal value and its relevance to all mankind.

The Gammelstad site is the world's most extensive and best preserved example of a church town, with more than 400 church cottages gathered around a medieval stone church.
