Guided tours of Gammelstad Church Town

The best way to experience Gammelstad Church Town is to join a guided tour. The Visitor Centre offer drop-in tours on the following dates:

1 February - 31 March
Every Sunday at 15.30 - 16.30

1 April - 31 May
Every Saturday and Sunday at 15.30 - 16.30

On a guided tour you learn about the church towns history and traditions, as well as why it is a world heritage. A visit in a church cottage and in Nederluleå church is included in the tour (with exeption of church services in Nederluleå chruch).

You purchase tickets at the Visitor Centre at the latest at 15.00 the same day. The price for a ticket is 100 SEK/person. The tours are available in Swedish and English.

There is also possible to book tours at other dates and times and in other languages. Please contact the Visitor Centre for more information.

UNESCO added Gammelstad church town to their world heritage list in 1996 - motivated by its outstanding universal value and its relevance to all mankind.

The Gammelstad site is the world's most extensive and best preserved example of a church town, with more than 400 church cottages gathered around a medieval stone church.
